Cilmi, Crowded House play Homebake 2008

Fresh from the UK's V Festival, Glastonbury, and T In The Park, Aussie singing sensation Gabriella Cilmi is bringing her sweet sounds back home.

The 16-year-old from Melbourne, whose single Sweet About Me has been a big hit here and in the Europe, will make her Australian festival debut at Homebake in Sydney in December.

She has been publicly endorsed by Oasis' Liam Gallagher and compared to Amy Winehouse, but were she not performing at the annual music festival Cilmi would be too young to attend the over 18s event.

At the other end of the spectrum in terms of age and experience, Crowded House will headline this year's Homebake.

Tim and Neil Finn closed the festival in Sydney's Domain in 2005, but it will be the first time the whole band has taken to the Homebake stage.

Other bands on the bill for the December 6 event, themed Peace In The Park, include dance act Sneaky Sound System, garage rockers The Vines, indie favourites You Am I, electropop group Cut Copy, country darlings Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson, and electro duo Pnau.

Tickets go on sale on Monday, August 18.
