Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan and singer Michael Bolton have broken off their engagement, a spokeswoman for the actress told People magazine.

"Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have amicably ended their engagement," spokeswoman Nicole Perna was quoted as saying. "They appreciate your respect for their privacy in this matter."

It is the second time that Sheridan, 44, and Bolton, 55, have parted. The pair began their relationship in 1992 and it lasted five years. They began to see each other again in 2005 and announced their engagement in March 2006.

Sheridan was married from 1991 to 1993 to actor Harry Hamlin, while Bolton has three children from a previous marriage.
